Well... it is in theory, if anyone sends us anything. This page will hopefully be filled with sound files of tracks from long-deleted cassettes and vinyl, self-produced or released on small labels by folk singers, bands and musicians who were active in the period roughly stretching from 1965 - 1985. There may even be some demos and live recordings. There will also be biographies, reminiscences, tall tales and photos, to place the songs in their right context and provide some background.

For this project to succeed in its aims, we need musicians and singers who were active in the era we cover to get in touch with us. And we need the rest of you to bring this site to the notice of your musician friends. We think that together we can create a great archive of material to celebrate a very fertile era in folk music... and hopefully have lots of fun in the process. We can't do it without you though, so please send us a message via our contact page.

One important thing to note: WE ARE NOT ANOTHER BOOTLEG WEBSITE. Everything we put up at the site will be added with the permission of the artists who created the music. Nothing will be available to download unless an artist specifically asks us to provide a download link. We are not interested in ripping people off or creating problems... we simply want to create an archive of lost or seldom-heard folk music to share with anyone who is interested.

For those artists who have reissued their old recordings, we're happy to act as a signpost to your own website and will be pleased to let people know how to buy your stuff. And if you're still gigging, so much the better: we'll let people know how to find out what you're up to.

So all that remains to say is WELCOME! Please get in touch... we need your involvement to make this site happen.

All the best,

The Lost Folk Tapeheads
